In the beginning was the Word
And the Word was made flesh
And dwelt among us
He made the world and the world knew him not
He came unto his own
And his own received him not
But as many as received him
To them gave he power
To become the sons of God
Those who believe on his name
As many as received him
To them gave he power
To become the sons of God
Be strong, be strong
Be strong in the Lord
and in the power of his might
Put on the whole armor of god
That ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil
be strong, be strong in the Lord
Put on the belt of truth
The breastplate of righteousness
And shoes of the gospel of peace
Take up the shield of faith
The helmet of salvation
The sword of the Spirit
Praying always never cease
Be on your guard, watch out! beware, take heed
Covetousness is like the sin of greed
Be on your guard, watch out! take heed, beware
Don’t let it catch you in its snare
Jesus told the parable of a man who could see
That his ground had brought forth quite plentifully
All this food I have, he thought, but no place to store
I have enough -- but I want MORE!
I know what I’ll do, he said, I’ll pull down my barns
And I’ll build even bigger ones on all of my farms
I’ll sit back and enjoy what I have stored up for me
I’ll eat, drink and merry I will be
But God said, You fool, this night your soul will be required
Your money will belong to other people who you hired
So is he who puts himself and riches on the throne
But is not rich toward God alone
By faith Moses, when he was come to years
refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God
than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season
Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches
than the treasures in Egypt
for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
Count it all joy (count it all joy!)
When you fall into diverse temptations
Count it all joy (count it all joy!)
When you suffer great tribulations
When we love God as we should
He’ll work together all things for our good
Better than we ever could when we count it all joy
Joseph’s brothers hated him
A good and godly boy
They sold him as a slave
And yet he counted it all joy
When made the prince of Egypt
To provide them with food
He said, What you meant for evil,
God meant for good!
Daniel, taken prisoner
When he was just a lad
Had much to complain about
But he chose to be glad
They threw him to the lions
Just because he did right
But when he counted it all joy
God took away their appetite
Dead flies within the ointment
Makes the ointment really stink
This verse that’s in the Bible
Ought to make us stop and think
Those flies, they weren’t too smart
And from death’s cup they took a drink (oooo-yuck!)
Dead flies within the ointment
Make the ointment really stink
Just like a few dead flies can make
The ointment smell so bad
Those silly things you do
Might one day make you very sad
For just a little folly makes your
Reputation sink (oooo-yuck!)
Dead flies within the ointment
Make the ointment really
Really really really really
Really really STINK!
He is able to do exceeding abundantly
Above all that we ask or think
He is able to do exceeding abundantly
Above all that we ask or think
He is able to keep you from falling
And to present you faultless
At the presence of his glory
He is able to keep that which I’ve committed
Unto him against that day
Four little creatures, God made them
Four little creatures, so small
Four little lessons God teaches
When on him we call
The ants are not too strong
So in the summer their food they stock
The conies are afraid, so they take refuge in the rock
The locusts have no king, and yet they march along by bands
The spider lives by faith like a queen and holds on with her hands
The king was asleep one night when God spoke in a dream
Solomon, just ask me, I’ll give you anything
Seriously? Anything? What would you ask for?
He said, Lord, I’m like a child, but I don’t ask for any prize
All I want is a heart that’s wise
Give me wisdom, that’s what I need to know right from wrong
Wisdom to lift up a friend and help him to be strong
I need wisdom to be holy in a world full of sin
Wisdom to know God and be more like him
So God gave him wisdom and he wrote it in a book
Called Proverbs, it’s in the Bible - Go and take a look!
It tells how to have treasure more than anyone could give
For when we learn wisdom we learn how to really live
When you’re up give thanks
When you’re down give thanks
When your smile has turned into a frown give thanks
In everything give thanks for this is the will of God
In Christ Jesus concerning you
David was a man after God’s own heart
But he didn’t have an easy life from the very start
Mocked by his brothers, hunted down by the king
But David had learned how to give thanks and sing
Go to the ant, thou sluggard
Consider her ways and be wise
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler
Provides her meat in the summer
And gathers her food in the harvest
And gathers her food in the harvest
Go the the ant, thou sluggard
Consider her ways and be wise
From the rising of the sun unto its going down
You're Yahweh, the great I Am, always the same
Jehovah and Adonai, Elohim and El Shaddai
I love you and worship you, holy is your name
You are Jehovah Tsidkenu my righteousness
Jehovah Shalom who gives peace to my soul
You're Nissi my banner, Jireh my provider
Rophe who heals and makes me whole
You are Jehovah Sabbaoth the Lord of hosts
Jehovah Shammah The Lord is there
You're Alpha and Omega, Abba my Father
Ra-ah, my Shepherd who hears my prayer
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ
For it is the power of God unto salvation
To everyone who believes
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ
For it is the power of God unto salvation
To everyone who believes
I declare unto you the gospel
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
That he was buried, that he rose again
This is the gospel of God
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged
Condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned
Forgive and ye shall be forgiven
Give and it shall be given unto you
Do you see that awful sin in someone you know?
Does it bother you and do you wanna tell him so?
To pull that speck from his eye just be careful when you try
‘Cause you’ve got a big log that’s stuck in your own eye
Hypocrite! First cast out from your eye that beam of sin
And then you’ll clearly see to fix the “fix” your brother’s in
Not just a hearer but a doer of God’s Word today
Don’t call me “Lord, Lord” and do not what I say
Nicodemus met Jesus in secret that night
A Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews
But he wanted to know what’s right
He said, I believe you’ve come from God
For these miracles can’t be of men
Then Jesus said, Nicodemus, you must be born again
For God so loved the world
That he gave his only begotten Son
That whoever believes in him
Should not perish but have everlasting life
Nicodemus said, To be born again O how can these things be?
But Jesus said, The Spirit sees what
Eyes of flesh can’t see
The sin of all mankind will make me drink the bitter cup
As the serpent in the wilderness
Must I be lifted up
Two men are in a fight inside me both day and night
One is the old man who’s full of self and sin
But since I’ve been born again a new man lives within
The Spirit of God in me, so who - will - win?
You’ve got to put off the old man full of self and sin
Put on the new man of God that looks like him
Fight the good fight of faith, the choice is up to you
Yes, put off the old man and put on the new
Anger and blasphemy, words that are filthy
Lies put away with the old man of sin
Kindness and mercy, meekness, humility
Put on the new man and walk like him
Pray always pray, pray night and day
Without ceasing without fainting, with humility
God supplies all your need and your path he will lead
When you obey his Word and pray, always pray
A widow woman cried to the judge every day
Avenge me of my adversary! he heard her say
I don’t believe in God, he said, for people I don’t care
But because she won’t leave me alone, I’ll answer her prayer.
Now Jesus told this parable to teach us to pray
Just like a beggar crying out for help every day
The Devil is our enemy who tries to do us wrong
But God hears the cry of those who pray all day long
A Pharisee was standing in the temple by his chair
And everyone around the man could clearly hear his prayer
I’m glad that I’m so good, he said, and not like other men
I’ve kept the law, so I don’t need to be born again
The publican stood far off so that others couldn’t see
O God, I am a sinful man, be merciful to me!
He left the temple right with God and justified that day
His gratitude and humble heart had taught him to pray
I want what I want and I want it right now
Get her for me! his parents heard him say
Samson, the strongest man alive
Acting like a spoiled little kid that day
Told by an angel that a son would be born
He must never drink wine, his hair never be shorn
A Nazarite – must always do what's right
But Samson beware — don't cut your hair!
I want what I want and I want it right now
To Delilah his secret gave away
Samson, the strongest man alive
Lost his power with God that day
I want what You want, Lord
Help me to be strong in Your Spirit
And the power of your might
Trade my selfishness for Your holiness
So I’ll have the power to do what's right
Trade my selfishness for your holiness
So I'll have the power to do what’s right
Satisfied, what a joy to be satisfied
Not in earthly treasures or worldly pleasures
But in the Lord, I shall be
Satisfied when I awake with thy likeness
Satisfied in my Savior, satisfied in his Word
Jonah wasn’t satisfied to just do what God said
Nineveh was full of bad guys so he ran the other way instead
Nineveh repented but Jonah still pouted because he didn’t get his wish
You’d think he’d learned to be satisfied
after being in the belly of a gigantic fish!
Satisfied to leave the glory of his heavenly home
To bear the sin of man and suffer on the cross alone
When Father, forgive them, It is finished! Jesus cried
The debt of sin was paid in full and God was satisfied
The battle is the Lord’s
I’ll lift my voice and tell
That all the earth may know
There is a God in Israel
The battle is the Lord’s
There’s power in his Word
He saves not with sword and spear
For the battle is the Lord’s
Give me a man! David heard Goliath cry
But David said, Who’s this guy, that God’s army should defy?
You come to me, with sword and spear you boast
But I come to you in the name of the God of hosts
With a sling and five stones David ran to meet
Goliath who was laughing that a boy stood at his feet
Who killed a lion and a bear, by faith he stood the test
He flung the rock into the air and
God did the rest
Adam talked to God, Moses knew him face to face
Enoch walked with God, in whose eyes Noah found grace
David had a heart for God, his name he would defend
Abraham believed God and he was called his friend
I want to be the friend of God
I want to hear him speaking just to me
One who sticks closer than a brother could be
Oh, I want to be the friend of God
Speak, Lord,” said Samuel, I’ll serve you with my heart
Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, for she chose that good part
Ruth said, I will follow your great God of Israel
Paul said, That I may know him, who knows me so well
Walk walk walk in the Spirit
Walk walk walk in the Light
Run run run to the Saviour
He gives the power to do what’s right
Walk walk walk in the Spirit
For the flesh wants to sin
But when we walk in the Spirit
We - will- WIN!
For the fruit of the Spirit is
Love, joy, and peace
Longsuffering, gentleness
Goodness, faith, meekness, temperance
People will see
When we walk in the Spirit of God
Chorus
Who is my neighbor
Is it someone who is just like me
Someone I can walk with, laugh and talk with
Who sees the way that I see
Or could my neighbor be someone who needs a friend
One who thinks quite differently?
Who is my neighbor
He's the one who needs to see Christ in me
He was a Jew, and a rich one too
Till men beat him up on the road to Jericho
A priest came by and we don't know why
But he mighta looked around and said "I better go!"
Then came another, a Levite brother
He didn't care, for he passed by too
But a Samaritan had compassion
Even though his folks were hated by the Jews
He was alert that the man was hurt
He washed his sores and lightened his load
Then as a gift he gave him a lift
He put him on his donkey and led him down the road
Took him to an inn, said "Care for him,
and whatever it costs I'll pay."
Then Jesus said, "Now which of these
was neighbor to the hurting man that day?"
Chorus
