Speak, Lord

It was night in the temple the lamp of God grew dim

Samuel heard a voice calling out to him

“Here am I” the little child answered right away

Running to sleepy Eli, happy to obey

Speak Lord, I am listening when you call my name

With my parents and my teachers I will do the same

Speak Lord, I am listening, I’ll be very still

For I want to hear your voice and always do your will

Eli said go lie down, I never called your name

Two more times again it happened, always just the same

Then he said this is God, so listen with your ears

This time say “speak Lord for your servant hears.”
