It was a sunny morning and I was washing the car. VBS was coming up in a month and I needed songs to teach the kids. I thought, “Of all the verses in the Bible, children need to sing John 3:16. Some of these kids at VBS are just like I was at their age...lost. If they go home singing John 3:16, they’ll go home singing the gospel.”
What’s your priority?
“I’m just kind of worried because she can’t seem to learn her colors and I go over them with her every day,” she moaned. There I sat in the swivel chair at my hair appointment, trying to encourage this young mom not to worry—because every child has his or her own timetable for learning. Then I remembered the pressure I felt when I was a young parent. You want your child to be the brightest, fastest, cutest. It’s hard to not brag about their achievements and worry when they seem “behind” (although I’m not quite sure about that—behind who?)
